I try not to go on too much in my reviews, but in this one I am going to indulge myself a little:
On July 18th, 2015, 26 lucky people, (of the 400+ that applied), were fortunate to be picked by the Birmingham Breakfast Club to join them for breakfast at Birmingham’s highest TripAdvisor rated restaurant, Michelin Starred restaurant, Adams: on Bennetts Hill in Birmingham.
It was a one off event, kindly set up by Adam and his wife Natasha. The ‘breakfasters’ arrived at 09:00 and were immediately indulged in superb coffees and tea’s, freshly squeezed orange and apple juices too. Fortunately for some, cocktails were also being served including a stunning Espresso Martini and a just about perfect Bloody Mary.
Adam’s aim was to make “the best breakfast we had ever eaten”.
All 26 of us were served at once. The first item to arrive was home made sour dough and preserves. Even the butter was a bit special, (Lincolnshire Poacher, hand-patted). Then came out the breakfasts. Wow!
2 perfectly poached duck eggs. 2 x Wiltshire lightly smoked back bacon, 2 x Scottish pork and sage sausages, chestnut mushrooms, balsamic roasted tomatoes, home made black pudding, (I believe they had sweet breads in them), Adam’s own recipe haggis and baked beans, (served separately of course!)
Poached Duck Eggs – Perfect. Simple as that.
Wiltshire Bacon – Cooked to perfection. Simply stunning.
Scottish Pork and Sage Sausages – Bostin! (I have been asked to find out where to buy them by 3 of the breakfasters).
Chestnut Mushrooms – Spot On
Balsamic Tomatoes – Soft, succulent, so tasty.
Home Made Black Pudding – Amazing! Rich, tasty, perfect.
Haggis – possibly a breakfast highlight. Simply spot on.
The home made sour dough toast was about perfect, too.
So far, I haven’t mentioned the service. All I can say is that it was service that matched the breakfast. Simply perfect.
