Set in Warminster, Wiltshire, the Cornmarket is a bit of an institution for the locals.
Its owned and run by Adele, who is quite a character. I was told in no uncertain terms that she only uses Heinz Ketchup and HP Sauce. I like Adele, (like the singer, ‘but dont ask me to sing!’)
The cafe is old school, offering a great range of breakfasts and family favourites such as roasts on a Sunday, homemade pies and such like.
Breakfast consisted of 2 sausages, 2 bacon, 2 fried eggs, mushrooms, baked beans, (in a ramekin), tinned tomatoes, hash browns and toast. I went for the large breakfast. It came with an included mug of tea or coffee.
The breakfast was great. If you want perfectly cooked bacon, crunchy hash brown, tinned tomato, (which I prefer), lovely mushrooms, then this is for you. Sausages here are not selected by a tasting panel of master butchers, but are obviously cheap ones. There is very little meat content, (I dread to think what type of meat), but they were still lovely – in their superb, cheap sausagey way.
The bacon was just about perfect. The only real criticism I have is that the breakfast I had should have had an extra toast, (there is a lot of ‘wet’ stuff to soak up, (eggs, tomato, beans)). The only other thing that was missing was that I didnt have a hangover. If I did, I would have given it a further star.
Would I recommend this place? Absolutely. Its a great breakfast at a very reasonable price, (especially at £6.95 including a tea or coffee).
