So this is a pub/small hotel and you can get married here, if you want. Its in the picturesque village of Ombersely in Worcestershire. We stayed here for a friends 50th birthday surprise dinner at the Venture In, (thoroughly recommended). This place was just a few metres walk away – so the perfect place to stay.
Breakfast was good. Sadly, like way too many, they fell foul of the sin of all sins: baked beans contaminating the rest of the breakfast. A real shame, becuase apart from that, it was a superb breakfast.
This was served with a rack of this toast for each of us:
The sausage was thick and from a local buchers, (I was told where, but sadly cant remember), the bacon looked like the streaky rashers that you get pre-packed from Sainsburys and was only just cooked – that suits me just fine – but I imagine others may have even sent it back?
The hash brown was super crunchy, the sausage tasty and juicy, the poached egg runny, the mushroom done well and the black pudding cooked perfectly, (not overdone as many do). There was a whole roast tomato too – which was a nice touch.
Going through this review, its quite positive. From a negative perspective, I will say that the table felt like it had been cleaned with treacle, it was so sticky and the menu felt like it needed a wipe down. That said, apart from that, the place was clean and the room and the breakfast were both good.
Would I recommend it? Yes, I would.
