Old Dresser Cafe is a lovely independent venue in Bearwood not far off Hagley Road. Styled with quaint furniture and trinkets that wouldn’t look out of place in your favourite grandmas house. Rich and Rob run the business as if they were welcoming you into their homes and service sets them apart on the high street.
They offer a good range of breakfast items with a menu that showcases the proprietors personalities. They are more than happy to adjust dishes to their diners preference. I always opt for the “Little Bear Breakfast”. (£4.50) 1 sausage, 1 bacon, 1 egg, mushrooms, tomato, hash brown, black pudding, white pudding and either toast or homemade soda bread. They of course serve the breakfasts most debated item- baked beans but they put their own twist on this by adding their own secret mix of four spices and of course serve them separate to ensure the haters are happy. If you prefer a larger breakfast they offer the “Big Bear” which is double everything for £6.50.
The sausage is a European style chicken and pork sausage which is lovely and together with the beans and cress added to your fried egg set this breakfast apart from your usual humdrum cafe.
A range of drinks are on offer including fresh juice all the modern coffee options and their signature loose leaf tea. Served in a vintage teapot on a quaint doily with the accompanying milk jug, sugar pot, tea cup and saucer. These items have been collected by the owner-operators from around Europe.
Breakfast is offered throughout the opening times so you are not restricted to availability if you fancy a long lie-in. Their vegetarian and vegan breakfasts include homemade sausages. They really make the effort to exceed customers expectations in both food and service.Note from Editor (Thanks so much for this great review Rich – It makes me want to go to and enjoy their Big Bear breakfast)Rich Jinks can be found on Twitter at @RichJinks
We LOVE a good Full English Breakfast. . When we are not eating a Full English, we are probably thinking about one. Individually, we love cycling, dogs and pub quizzes.
