This is an area that I know for a specific restaurant that I have been to 12 times, to date. That restaurant is the White Post, Rimpton Hill, Yeovil. The reason that I mention this, is that I pass Wayne’s Bistro and Bar. The White Post is SO good, that I dont even consider eating anywhere else, (their breakfast got 10/10, btw). I digress. Its on the busy A303, near Yeovil.
I found the interior a bit weird. Its spotlessly clean, spacious, but with the TV on the wall showing the news channel with subtitles on, its weird because when I visit offices in the city of London, they also have flat ceilings and a large TV on the wall, showing Sky/BBC news with subtitles. Its in need of some softening up. Its just a bit too hollow as a room.
The menu is quite decent, with quite a bit to browse through. A nice touch was that they do their own coffee. Service was good.
The menu is priced a little on the high side for a Full English – so I am expecting something a bit special.
I have to be honest, I was quite unimpressed when it turned up. The bacon was superb. The sausage was tasty, but tiny.
The fried egg was very greasy. The beans were rightly in a ramekin, the hash browns were crunchy. Toast was simple toast, (but 2 slices per breakfast). The mushrooms however were a disappointment. It was quite obvious that the mushrooms hadnt been cleaned at all:
Overall, I found the setting quite unusual, I thought the breakfast was substandard for the price point. The mushrooms were unexcusable. An occassional pit of dirt, is barely OK, but big chunks of it isnt.
Would I recommend this venue? No.
